From end-of-life ski equipment to high-performance gear back on the slopes. LIFE re-WINTER is the circular project that turns used rental products into new gear, reducing waste and keeping materials in play.

Test the secondary raw materials obtained and lead the design and planning activities of new gear.
One of the biggest challenges is the delamination of skis. To tackle this, we will use a novel dissolution process with bio-based solvents to separate the layers. Ski boots and bindings will be ground and sorted by plastic type, while further processing will enhance material properties for use in new high-performance ski equipment. The main materials targeted for recovery include TPU, ABS, Polyamide, HDPE, and metals.
All the products will be collected through the rental shops network, that will compressively recover 10,000 end-of-life skis, boots and bindings. The equipment will be moved to the recycling centers, where it will be disassembled and/or grinded.
The recovered materials will be used to produce 1,000 new pairs of skis, boots, and bindings. Each product will feature a digital product passport, giving users access to a platform with details on origin, composition, environmental impact, maintenance and recycling instructions, and the ability to share feedback on their product directly with the brand.
